Crystals have been used for centuries for the purpose of healing and wellbeing. They have been scientifically proven to enrich the environments in which they are found, and they are commonly used by energy workers to heal and protect both humans and animals. While crystals come in a variety of shapes and sizes, every detail is important - from its shape, to its size, to its colour. All of these tiny details influence how energy flows throughout the crystal, into its environment, and ultimately... into you.
When purchasing a crystal you need to decide whether you want a raw (untreated and/or unpolished), tumbled or carved version of the crystal. I have written a blog post on the differences between raw and tumbled crystals previously if you want to understand which option is best for you and your healing. Carved crystals come in many different shapes, including hearts, pyramids, spheres, angels, generators, obelisks, eggs, wands, skulls, etc. Each shape has a particular meaning and healing benefit.
If you have decided that you want to choose a carved crystal shape, you need to consider what it will be used for. Keep in mind that every crystal has its own natural healing properties regardless of its shape or form, so its important that you are aware of the energetic properties of the crystal if you are not familiar with the stone.
Then consider the shape, and if it offers any additional healing benefits for you. Next decide whether the shape is aligned with the way in which you plan to use the crystal. For example, will you be keeping the crystal in your pocket? Will you be placing it on your altar? Or maybe you will be using it for a crystal grid or for Chakra healing.
The Heart Shaped Crystal
These crystals include any stone that has been cut, carved and polished into a traditional heart symbol. It is known to attract loving energy, as well as energies that can help you release and recover from negative emotions.
Crystal hearts deal with the mental body, and work to deter sadness, grief, suffering and pain. This healing shape can also help attract love or a new relationship, heal the heart and emotional wounds, and is profoundly powerful at balancing relationships. It has also been known to increase fertility.
These crystals can be placed over the heart Chakra during healing work, while small hearts can be carried with you as a powerful pocket energy magnet and/or protector. Medium to large hearts can be placed around the home, bedroom or within crystal grids. They are wonderful meditation tools for opening up your heart Chakra, filling it with pure loving light, and clearing any old wounds and traumas.
Crystal hearts make amazing gifts between friends, lovers, and family members, as they are a constant reminder that love is the ultimate energetic vibration. They bring healing and peace to the heart and body, and who doesn't need some of that right now?
